April 28 - May 1 - International Branch Weekend, Pafos, Cyprus

The 6th Annual International Branch Workshop Weekend will be at the beautiful Avanti Hotel. Teaching the classes we have Ellie Briscoe from the USA, Jean Dodds from Australia, and William Williamson from the UK.  Music for the classes and evening events by James Gray, Ian Robertson, and Andrew Lyon.

There will be the opportunity to combine this with an organised holiday, from the 25th - 28th April and the 2nd - 4th May.  The holiday will be based at the Avanti Hotel, with optional day trips to an ancient monastery on the coast, the hidden wine villages in the mountains, the Baths of Aphrodite, the Templar castle, the new marina at Limassol, the Roman mosaics of Pafos, and other fascinating sights.

This is the course for those who have danced regularly for many years and are interested in refining their skills.

Each morning we have a Dance Workshop where you learn interesting and unusual dances with the guidance of our experienced Dance Leaders. In the afternoon, enjoy a pleasant guided walk, or explore the locality at leisure. Alternatively, you may choose to start out on a full day's Guided Walk. Following dinner, each evening brings everyone together for a full and inclusive Program of Scottish Country Dancing.

May 7 - A Royal Tea Party, Truro, Nova Scotia 

In celebration of our 35th Anniversary in 2017, RSCDS Nova Scotia is hosting a Royal Tea Party.

This is an afternoon dance, starting at 2 pm, at St Andrews Church Hall,in Truro, NS.

There will be live music (The Macadians) and prizes for the best HAT (men and women).

Following the dance, there will be a high tea with special treats (strawberry shortcake, scones and clotted cream, etc).

Note: We are also releasing a book of dances and a CD, recorded by Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith. We hope the book and CD will be released in the next 6 months

May 19-21 - Pawling Weekend, Berkshire Hills, NY

Once again, it's time to think about a spring weekend away for dancing and fun!  The 54th annual New York City RSCDS Branch sponsored Spring (Pawling) Weekend is approaching!
And we have a
new location.  We think you’ll love it!

Teachers: Antoine Rousseau of Paris, France, Arthur McNair of Pittsburgh, Rebecca Roman of Buffalo.

We will have the music of Scotch Mist with guest artist Catherine Miller at our Saturday night Highland Ball, our Friday night Welcome Dance, and our classes! Jim Stevenson-Mathews of The New York Branch will play for classes as well.

Saturday and Sunday class groupings will be Basic, Social, and Technique. Makeup of the classes will be subject to the discretion of the teachers. Please be modest in estimating your dancing ability.

The RSCDS Adelaide & Districts Branch invites all Scottish Country Dancers to attend the 42nd Australian Winter School, to be held in Hahndorf in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Non-dancers are also most welcome as you will find plenty to delight you in the Adelaide Hills.

July 21 - 30 - TAC Conference Weekend and Summer School, Vancouver 

Join us for the Teachers’ Conference Weekend, AGM, and Summer School at the University of British Columbia in beautiful Vancouver.

Come Scottish country dancing with some of the world’s best teachers and musicians. The Summer School is full week of Scottish country dancing for all levels of experience. There will be 6 mornings of dance classes, 4 evening social dances, a formal banquet and ball, and a much-loved ceilidh evening where you can show off your talents, or simply enjoy the talents (sometimes questionable; sometimes brilliant) of fellow dancers.

An update from Duncan: There are still a few places left for our Scottish Dance week AND this year is special as it is the 150th anniversary of Canada and the 400th anniversary of the pact between the Mi'maws and Acadians, which is taking places during four days immediately prior to the SCD week. 10-13th August: 400th anniversary of Mi’kmaw and Acadian culture at Grand Pre National Historic Park

Another draw for those outside Canada is that the C$ is down 25% compared to the US$. Many thanks, Duncan 


Sept 2 - 3 - Weekend Away in Oslo

RSCSD Youth Branch invites young dancers to a weekend in Olso. Teachers are Jamie Berg, James Gray, and Matthias Rank. The weekend includes SCD workshop, Musicians’ Workshop, Cape Breton Workshop, Lunch, and a Sunday sightseeing tour.

Travel grants are available.

The evening dance is open to all.

Sept 8 - 9 - Jersey SCD Weekend and Ball, Channel Islands

Once again we in Jersey are preparing for our annual Ball, Friday & Saturday 8th & 9th September with a pre-ball practice night on Thursday 7th September.  

There will be one walk through for each dance on both nights.  

Ticket price of £35 covers both nights and £5 for the pre-ball practice.

We are hoping that many former members of the NS Branch, ISCDS attendees, visitors, (oh, ANYone who wishes) will attend some or all of the weekend.

Friday: Ceilidh evening, Saturday: morning and afternoon classes, evening Banquet and Ball; and Sunday: a morning Teachers' Class.
