Nov 30 - Dec 2 - December Weekend In Portugal, Curia

The 5th Annual December Weekend in Portugal returns to the Curia Palace Hotel, such was the enthusiasm of the dancers about the venue! Curia is a small spa-town between two important university cities, Coimbra and Aveiro, in the heart of the Bairrada wine-growing district.

The home of Portugal's Baga grape, Bairrada is bounded on one side by the mountainous Dao region and on the other by the surf-washed Atlantic beaches. The region is known for its delicious gastronomy and beautiful landscapes.

The weekend offers two balls with music by Keith Smith and Peter Shand, SCD classes with Raphaelle Orgeret (shown), and an optional half-day tour on Saturday afternoon. The complete package includes accommodation at the Curia Palace Hotel, two breakfasts and two dinners, two balls and the classes. The Curia Palace Hotel, with its Belle-Epoque and Art Nouveau styled rooms, is not only a beautiful place to stay, but has a magnificent wooden-floor ballroom.

2019: Apr 30 - May 5 - Spring School of Scottish Country Dance, Kazan, Russia

RSCDS Moscow Branch is happy to invite you to the most outstanding and important event in the Scottish Dancing Culture in Russia. The School program includes the workshops in all styles of Scottish Dancing: Scottish Country, Highland, Ladies’ Step, and Cape Breton Step.

Our teachers:  Ron WALLACE (USA) – SCD, Step Dance (hard and soft shoes) and Gábor TURI (Hungary) – SCD.  And we hope to see Deryck MITCHELSON (UK) as a Highland Dance teacher.

Our dancers come from all parts of Russia. Most are young and energetic. This school allows dancers from distant areas to learn from the best practices and inspires them for continuing study of Scottish dancing and spreading Scottish culture around.

We would be glad to see experienced dancers, as well as beginners, from all around the world. This would allow our participants to become acquainted with different traditions and schools of Scottish dancing.
